The Beach Boys are one of the most popular American rock bands of all time, formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961 by the Wilson brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl, along with friend Mike Love and Al Jardine. For more than five decades, the group has been known as one of America’s biggest band ever; their contributions to American pop culture have been so huge that they have traveled the world for over fifty years of concert touring, performing for millions of fans.
After the death of Brian Wilson in 2006, the only two original members left are Mike Love and Al Jardine. Some of the legendary songs the group will play live are “Good Vibrations”, “Kokomo”, “I Get Around”, “Help Me, Rhonda”, “Barbara Ann”, “Surfin’ USA” and more. All of the tracks that they play live are brought to life with harmonized vocals. The three brothers were part of the California sound, a collection of bands in the early 1960s, and many of their songs deal with the sunny state's cultural nuances, including themes of young love, cruising in cars, and surfing.
They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. The Beach Boys received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. The band has 37 songs that charted in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Top 40, the most of any American band. They ranked #12 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. The Beach Boys are the top-selling American band for both albums and singles as reported by Nielsen SoundScan. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide. The group was signed to Capitol Records in 1962 and put out their first album, Surfin’ Safari, the same year. Since then, the band has traveled all over the world performing for fans of the California sound and all the music that has sprung from it.
