What to expect at Ryman Auditorium

The Ryman Auditorium is located in downtown Nashville. It sits among a lively street of bars, museums, restaurants, and attractions, making for a great spot for a longer trip. 

One of the key reasons the Ryman is so popular is its world-class acoustics. In fact, the sound quality is often described as “spiritual” by performers and attendees. This is mostly thanks to the unique architecture and state-of-the-art sound technology in place at the venue. 

The arena is split into two sections. The main floor is level with the stage and offers the closest possible views of the performance, while the balcony is raised, with great lines of sight from a higher vantage point. No matter which section you pick, the sound of the performance will be authentic and immersive. It’s a fantastic place to watch any performance.

During your trip to the Ryman Auditorium, you’ll find pieces of history around every corner. For example, the original oak pews, dating back to 1895 on the main floor and 1897 on the balcony, are still in place. They were restored during a 1994 renovation, keeping the venue’s iconic mix of past and present alive.
